PB2A1+2- Comp Engineering

hey y'all

part 1:
i'm currently a computer engineering major. aspects of computer engineering include:
hardware and software engineering. Hardware engineers focus their skills on computer systems and components, designing microprocessors, circuit boards, routers and other embedded devices

Professor Vasant Honavar studies:
long-term research interests span artificial intelligence (especially machine learning, causal inference, knowledge representation), computer science, data sciences, cognitive and brain sciences, and applied informatics (especially bioinformatics, health informatics). His research is driven by fundamental scientific questions or important practical problems in areas of societal or national priority

part 2:
Although my main goal is to pursue artificial intelligence in masters but a close second was to pursue hacking, or learn it as a minor. I was always intrigued by it, and you can get an undergrad in computer engineering. And then pursue it as a masters or get a phd. i like hacking and cyber security because in involves and shares aspects of my intended major and it helps me narrow down to something specific within in that major. also, imagine the bragging rights from claiming i'm a hacker? yeah thats that.

i could learn how to hack, different types of hacking, how hacking and computer engineering are intertwined, the career fields that span from hacking and the importance of hacking within large business.

extra credit-

my reverse outline

thesis:
Using a literary lens, I’ll be analyzing the effectiveness of 21st century political propaganda by their conventions, rhetorics, and affordances/constraints.
Outline:
-why it is important to understand rhetorics in political campaigning)
-How barack used a smart slogan to appeal  to voters and proved his political poster is successful
-Political propaganda can be found outside of presidential elections
-Common era posters with an indirect audience and its effectiveness
Reflection
my initial organizational attempt was to point out the topics I would look at that prove a propaganda poster is effective, and how they're also different. political propaganda can be very different because its all about pushing a specific rhetoric, from a different side or argument. so introduced the opening paragraph after my introduction about things posters can all feature. then followed it with different examples that argue a different side from a different time period with different things happening within the time period, in term of politics. then i followed with constraints and what it could not do within its period.
moving, forward i need to better analyze my argument and get examples that better line up with it. i don't necessarily have to point out what it can or can not do in different paragraphs. i can put them all in the same paragraph when analyzing different  examples, since i'm analyzing effectiveness then i can look at each one, how effective it was based off of the things i put in my thesis and compare those example's to the following examples. i truthfully also think my thesis isnt the best so that can use work.

PB1B: Plug'n Chug'n conventions

Conventions just keep popping up everywhere!

SCIgen: engineering papers
conventions
  • lengthy title
  • well structured
  • graphs
  • serious, professional tone
  • factual information
  • cited work
  • argumentative/ informative

Pandyland: 3-panel comics
these comics were a little weird and this is the most.
  • adult audience
  • passive aggressive tone
  • short and simple
  • dry humor
  • color ful
  • speech bubbles
  • hand written textual effect and design

memegenerator: popular memes

so doge - such meme much wowWilly Wonka - Oh age is just a number? well jail must just be a roomKermit The Frog Drinking Tea - #healthy yet all your pics be #fastfood but that's none of my business

a "meme" is kind of hard to define but its: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.

conventions:

  • short, bold lettered, sentence or phrase over a humerous photo
  • photo matches the attitude/mood of text or vice versa
  • funny
  • age group varies
  • photo follow the trends/ symbols of generation (i.e from kermit came the term "tea")
  • can be contradictory (bottom right)

poem generator: self explanatory
i suck at poetry so i found a website that generates them for me based on some generic poem conventions.
1."Desolation is a misty breeze.
Never desire a cloud."
2. "The driver stops like a fast guy.
Dark, rainy sidewalks calmly buy a dead, faceless corner.
Lights stop like fast hoods.
Never get a flower.
The rainy driver roughly desires the slum."
conventions:

  • specific terms (i.e screenshot)
  • poems can be longer or shorter
  • structured in stanzas
  • rhyming scheme (aba, abb, abc)
  • tone varies but usually reference an emotion/feeling
  • imagery, yet can be vague
  • poems can be about anything or anyone or any event

these are all very different pieces of work which at first glance are very different. we go from a genre with more serious conventions and a formal tone like a science engineering paper, to a comic strip with heavy satire. meme and poems are totally different too in term of conventions, asides that they both feature a verbal communication intended to get a reaction. memes make you laugh. poems can make you feel a range of emotions. poems and the science essays are both structured pieces. cartoon strips and memes are both humorous in their own way, regardless of how their humorous traits are executed to the audience.
ultimately to be behind one of these websites, you basically do the same thing i did, which is to take conventions from each genre and apply it. it is using a combination of these genres to create something users would want and is acceptable for that particular genre.

-now thats the tea,
