these comics were a little weird and this is the most.

a "meme" is kind of hard to define but its: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.
conventions:
- short, bold lettered, sentence or phrase over a humerous photo
- photo matches the attitude/mood of text or vice versa
- funny
- age group varies
- photo follow the trends/ symbols of generation (i.e from kermit came the term "tea")
- can be contradictory (bottom right)
poem generator: self explanatory
i suck at poetry so i found a website that generates them for me based on some generic poem conventions.
1."Desolation is a misty breeze.
Never desire a cloud."
2. "The driver stops like a fast guy.
Dark, rainy sidewalks calmly buy a dead, faceless corner.
Lights stop like fast hoods.
Never get a flower.
The rainy driver roughly desires the slum."
conventions:
- specific terms (i.e screenshot)
- poems can be longer or shorter
- structured in stanzas
- rhyming scheme (aba, abb, abc)
- tone varies but usually reference an emotion/feeling
- imagery, yet can be vague
- poems can be about anything or anyone or any event
these are all very different pieces of work which at first glance are very different. we go from a genre with more serious conventions and a formal tone like a science engineering paper, to a comic strip with heavy satire. meme and poems are totally different too in term of conventions, asides that they both feature a verbal communication intended to get a reaction. memes make you laugh. poems can make you feel a range of emotions. poems and the science essays are both structured pieces. cartoon strips and memes are both humorous in their own way, regardless of how their humorous traits are executed to the audience.
ultimately to be behind one of these websites, you basically do the same thing i did, which is to take conventions from each genre and apply it. it is using a combination of these genres to create something users would want and is acceptable for that particular genre.-now thats the tea,

I really like how you laid everything out so people can see the conventions of each genre. Your self explanatory was really good it helped me understand your genres you were showing and the differences between them even though they all could be similar. Great job overall I would definitely read it again.
ReplyDeleteI like how you laid out the post. It's clean and clear and in depth. There were many examples, as well. I like how different your random generator was: from all the ones I had seen, they were generally the same.
